Job Summary

The Warehouse Director is responsible for directing the activities associated with the timely, accurate, safe and efficient receiving, picking and loading of Imperial Beverage products within the warehouse as well as updating and monitoring inventory. The Warehouse Director leads, manages and holds the warehouse team accountable, while assisting the Operations department as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Hire, train, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action within the warehouse team
  • Plan, develop, recommend, and implement changes to the warehouse departments
  • Manage schedules for direct reports and submit payroll information on a weekly basis
  • Oversee the receiving, picking and loading of Imperial Beverage products
  • Oversee the maintenance and safety of the building, equipment and people of Imperial Beverage
  • Oversee the delivery of product ordered from suppliers to the Imperial Beverage warehouse
  • Review procedures for warehouse functions and make corrections for smoother operations
  • Present recommendations and make improvements to safety, security and maintenance
  • Monitor daily safety and security checks throughout the facility to ensure a safe and clean environment and eliminate all hazards and security issues
  • Responsible for designing, coordinating and implementing safety training, procedures, rules and regulations, including warning violators of infractions and emergency preparedness
  • Conduct incident investigations to help analyze and document accidents and/or near-miss incidents to determine causes and how accidents might be prevented in the future
  • Sound appropriate alarms and/or call emergency services as needed in case of events such as fire, tornado, accident or presence of unauthorized persons and serve as first responder when emergencies arise
  • Provide the highest level of cleanliness in all spaces
  • Maintain accurate and organized inventory at Kalamazoo Warehouse
  • Serve as the OSHA/MIOSHA compliance resource
  • Lead and support Safety Committee
  • Monitor workloads, overtime and staffing levels to ensure the proper match of headcount to volume and make recommendations
  • Direct the proper selection, purchase and utilization of company assets in support of warehouse operations
  • Review receiving, stocking, recycling, picking and loading paperwork to ensure documentation is correct and monitor inefficiencies and productivity
  • Manage department budget
  • Actively communicate with all departments throughout the company, systematically eliciting feedback for continuous improvement opportunities
  • Alerts other personnel to potential safety and cleanliness concerns
  • Rotate as on-call manager to assist the sales team when warehouse access is needed after hours

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent education and experience) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Five to seven years' experience in warehouse management
  • Two to three years' general maintenance and/or safety experience preferred
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Leadership skills to direct employees and oversee department operations
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions quickly and efficiently while remaining calm and professional
  • Experience developing and managing projects
  • An aptitude for creating systems to identify and assign tasks
  • A demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and assess priorities effectively
  • Must possess superior customer service skills, including answering questions and complaints in a helpful and professional manner
  • Flexibility to work with varying hours
  • Self-starter with a high productivity level
  • Sense of urgency and attention to detail while working within deadlines
  • Ability to coordinate processes and work well with various departments
  • Forklift license preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Communication skills to clearly provide information in writing, by phone or in person

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, twist, squat, bend and sit, often for long periods of time. The employee may be exposed to varying temperatures and must be able to perform physical tasks in hot and cold areas of the warehouse.
