Job Summary

The Logistics Director is responsible for directing the activities associated with the timely, accurate, and efficient delivery of Imperial Beverage products from our warehouses to customers. The Logistics Director leads, manages and holds the Delivery Management team accountable, while assisting the Operations department as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Hire, train, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action within the Delivery Management team
  • Plan, develop, recommend, and implement changes to the Delivery department
  • Manage schedules for Delivery Management team and submit payroll information on a weekly basis
  • Oversee the pick-up, transport and delivery of beverage cases and kegs to customers in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner
  • Oversee compliance in driver hiring, driver qualifications, and maintenance of DOT required compliance records
  • Evaluate delivery routes as needed to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and remain compliant with DOT regulations
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT policies and procedures
  • Manage department budget
  • Oversee safety of the delivery drivers and delivery vehicles of Imperial Beverage
  • Responsible for driver safety training, procedures, rules and regulations, including warning violators of infractions and emergency preparedness
  • Review procedures for logistics functions and make corrections for smoother operations
  • Monitor workloads, overtime and staffing levels to ensure the proper match of headcount to volume and make recommendations
  • Direct the proper selection, purchase and utilization of company assets in support of logistics operations
  • Review delivery paperwork to ensure documentation is correct and monitor inefficiencies and productivity
  • Support Safety Committee
  • Ensure the use and updating of routing software
  • Partner with Customer Service and Sales Management to resolve issues and identify root cause for providing the best customer experience possible
  • Oversee the maintenance of delivery vehicles
  • Rotate as on-call manager to assist the sales team when warehouse access is needed after hours
  • Additional duties and responsibilities to be determined

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent education and experience) in Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Five to seven years' experience in management
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Leadership skills to direct employees and oversee department operations
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions quickly and efficiently while remaining calm and professional
  • Must possess superior customer service skills, including answering questions and complaints in a helpful and professional manner
  • Flexibility to work with varying hours
  • Self-starter with a high productivity level
  • Sense of urgency and attention to detail while working within deadlines
  • Ability to coordinate processes and work well with various departments
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Critical-thinking skills to develop, adjust and carry out logistical plans
  • Thorough understanding of DOT regulations
  • Experience with Routing Software preferred
  • Communication skills to clearly provide information in writing, by phone or in person
  • Experience developing and managing projects
  • A demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and assess priorities effectively

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, twist, squat, bend and sit, often for long periods of time. The employee may be exposed to varying temperatures and must be able to perform physical tasks in hot and cold areas of the warehouse.
