Title:                               Recycling Associate

Department:                    Operations

Reports To:                     Recycling Manager

Exemption Status:           Hourly / Non-Exempt

Job Summary

The Recycling Associate is responsible for moving recyclables in, out of and around the warehouse in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner and for maintaining a clean and organized warehouse. The Recycling Associate will rotate through warehouse roles as needed, but is primarily responsible for separating recyclables, crushing glass and loading recycle trailers while checking-in internal delivery trucks.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Recycling Duties:

  • Separate recyclables (aluminum, plastic, cardboard, glass), crush glass and load recycling trailers with product to be removed from warehouse
  • As out-of-date product is located, verify if the product should be destroyed or left in inventory and build skids of out-of-date or recalled product to send back to supplier

Receiving Duties:

  • Check-in incoming product from internal delivery trucks by comparing their daily paperwork to what is unloaded from the truck and moving this product to the designated storage or recycling area and notifying Customer Service to update inventory accordingly
  • Unload delivery trucks containing incoming product by hand, on a forklift or with a pallet jack

Stocking Duties:

  • Accurately and safely move product with forklifts or pallet jacks from delivery trucks to the designated storage area

Loading Duties:

  • Track empty kegs to return to brewery for refill until there is a truck load. Wrap kegs, load the truck and remove kegs from inventory

Delivery Duties:

  • Deliver product to events and customers as needed

General Warehouse Duties:

  • Clean the interior and exterior of delivery trucks
  • Maintain a clean warehouse environment through cleaning duties such as sweeping, removal of debris or products in walkways and cleaning of products and equipment
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment (vans, forklifts, pallet jacks, and pick carts) according to OSHA/DOT and Imperial rules and regulations
  • Maintain a safe warehouse environment by adhering to safety rules, regulations and procedures, including equipment maintenance procedures
  • Assist other employees and customers as needed
  • Additional duties and responsibilities to be determined

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 months warehouse/materials handling experience preferred
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
  • Basic computer skills for use of email, time clock, and data entry
  • Ability to compute basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) without a calculator
  • Listening skills to follow instructions from manager
  • Flexibility to work with scheduled break times and varying shift end times
  • Self-starter with a high productivity level
  • Sense of urgency and attention to detail while working within deadlines
  • Ability to work with teammates in a united effort
  • Customer service skills
  • Chauffeur's license preferred, but only required for deliveries
  • Forklift license preferred, but not required

While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift/carry an average of 30 pounds and move up to 165 pounds, often on a repetitive basis. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, twist, squat, bend and sit, often for long periods of time. The employee may be exposed to varying temperatures and must be able to perform physical tasks in hot and cold areas of the warehouse and on trucks.
